We offer a specialist postnatal examination following both vaginal and caesarian deliveries. This assesses how your posture, pelvic floor and stomach muscles are recovering after childbirth. We can provide you with exercises and treatment to help with your recovery.
Up to half of all women experience weakness in both the abdominal muscles and pelvic floor muscles after pregnancy and up to a third still have a tummy gap at eight weeks post-birth. This can cause instability or poor core strength leading to the development of pelvic or back pain or bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction. These conditions should not be something you should just put up with as a result of having a baby.
We treat people who have recently given birth but we also treat those who gave birth years ago that may still have a tummy gap or related pelvic floor issues.
Alex Corser has trained with the UK's leading Women's Health Physiotherapists and is fully trained and licensed to carry out a Mummy MOT. Mums need to bend squat and lift so she provides clinical postnatal care and functional exercises for clients following birth (no matter how long ago).

C-section recovery/ scar therapy
Available from 6/8 weeks postpartum, and it's never too late, older scars can respond well too.
For C-section recovery, it’s important to mobilise the tissues in order to assist the natural scarring process and prevent potential adhesions.
How can C-section scar therapy help?
Stimulate change to scar tissue on the skin surface, and to adhesions or fibrosis in the underlying tissue.
Reduce common symptoms, such as numbness, swelling, pain and sensitivity, and any associated pain (such as hip, pelvic or back pain)
Promote cosmetic improvements after C-section.
The Importance of Self-Care
In addition to seeking professional help, self-care is crucial for women's health. Here are some self-care practices to consider:
Stay Active: Regular exercise can improve mood and reduce stress. Find activities you enjoy, whether it's walking, dancing, or yoga.
Eat a Balanced Diet: Nutrition plays a vital role in overall health. Focus on whole foods, fruits, and vegetables to nourish your body.
Practice Mindfulness: Stress management is essential. Consider mindfulness techniques like meditation or deep breathing exercises.
Connect with Others: Building a support network can help you navigate health challenges. Share your experiences with friends or join a support group.
